An active member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), Scott holds the rank of Advocate and has served on the National Board of Directors of ABOTA. In 1996, he served as the President of the Orange County Chapter. He is also the recipient of the Judge George Francis Civility Award from the Orange County Chapter and he has lectured at seminars for ABOTA. Scott maintains an AV rating from Martindale - Hubbell.
Scott has served on the Ethics Committee of the Orange County Bar Association and on the Judiciary Committee. He has also served as Judge Pro Tem in the Orange County Superior Court and as an Arbitrator.
Scott is active in a number of community groups. A firm believer in the value of education, Scott is a member of the UCLA Chancellor’s Society and sits on the Board of the Orange County Chapter. Scott is a Life Member of the UCLA Alumni Association and the Sigma Chi Fraternity and served on the Board of Governors of the UCLA Fund. He was President and formerly on the Board of Directors of FOR Children, an educational foundation. On weekends, Scott is an active member of Mariner’s Church in Irvine.
Scott is from Salt Lake City, Utah. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California at Los Angeles (1970) and his Juris Doctorate from the Loyola University School of Law (1974). While at Loyola he was on the Dean's List and was published in the Loyola Law Review and held of the position Associate Editor.
Scott is admitted to practice in all courts in California, including United States Federal District Courts. He is married to Terry and they have four children.
